It was about frigging time +
Some of you might know we were getting our rather old (1960s) kitchen renovated. We had been without a stove, oven and a sink for about 3 weeks. I felt like hugging the plumber once the sink and the plumbing was done and operational.
This is it. about 98% done. Some touchups and paint left. Don't mind the beige trashcan. I know it seems out of place and will be upgraded to a nicer one pretty soon. I have some "before pix" too and I think the contractor did a pretty amazing job. He is the same chap who did our pool room setup. the kitchen imo is the most tense mod to a house you can ever do. Everything you see in the pic (from windows to door floors and roof) is new. We decided to go with kraftMaid for the cabinets and a mix of Kenmore elite and Jenn-Air for the appliances. The hood is futurofuturo whereas blackgalaxy for the granite, Grohe for the faucets and Jaccuzi for the main sink and Kohler for the Bar sink. The backsplash tiles that my wifey designed are all hand made. Total duration of the project = 2 months total fights with your better half over stupid stuff while designing = Infinity http://www.chooha.com/kitchen/RS-IMG_4766.JPG http://www.chooha.com/kitchen/RS-IMG_4771.JPG http://www.chooha.com/kitchen/RS-IMG_4776.JPG |

MiCkEy: Outstanding! Kudos to yourCEO for her taste, design and the ArchDigest qual. backsplash tiles!
Amazing depth of field and razor sharp pics, too; I'm envious of your cam/photo skills. Lmao at "infinity"...you musta helped a touch, no?! BR,md |

|
WOW...thats awesome!!!! Nice job Mick!!
|
looks awesome Mickey! tell the other half she did a good job as usual! :)
|
Nice choices, Mickey. We just renovated our kitchen at the beginning of January (lasted 5-6 weeks), so I feel your pain. We have similar tastes-very similar wall color, tile backsplash (diff tile, of course), custom natural cherry cabinets/granite (lighter) countertops and stainless Jenn-Air appliances, wood floors.
I just got my 2 latest home mods-hi velocity central air retrofit and a mosquito magnet for the yard (to fend off the maine state bird :p .) Your kitchen looks great! Enjoy! |

Thanks everyone + some answers
someone asked what kind of flooring was done. Just regular hardwood Bruce 3/4" Kendale Strips.
Here are some of the older (before) pics. Believe it or not the applainced were about 40 years old. The double oven had a sticker date of 15th march, 1960 on the rear. The appliances worked as if they were new. http://www.chooha.com/kitchen/before1.JPG http://www.chooha.com/kitchen/before2.JPG The significant other has a good eye re: designing. Have asked her many times to quit her job and start this as a business. perhaps some day... |

Great mod to your kitchen Mickey! I like the tiles and the effect with under cabinet lights.

Wow, what a transformation. I love that rich, dark wood which contrasts beautifully with the stainless steel appliances.
I hope you don't mind me using it as a model for my future kitchen reno. And btw, your photographs are absolutely amazing. |
I think I'm going to puke because it is so gorgeous. I want your kitchen. I'm going to come over and take it apart piece by piece and carry it home. That is one damn fine kitchen.

Holy Poop!

Looks fantastic Mickey.
I'd get rid of that white garbage can though. :D |
Mickey, without seeming too gay, check out the touchless automatic opening trashcan over at Overstock.com. Stainless steel to go w/ your appliances and your wife will dig it.
http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2....PROD_ID=996472 I am in the midst of a kitchen remod myself, but am doing it bit by bit, to keep the kitchen fully functional during the job. I hear "measure twice, cut once" ringing in my head all damn day. Looks awesome, man, congrats! JV |
AWESOME mods. We got Jenn-Air appliances in our kitchen and they definitely work well!! Love your kitchen....now, show us the food!!

Fine Pic, MiC, as your usual!

Great style. Everything really flows together real nicely. The pictures are flawless (except for the TC), almost like something out of a magazine. I think that lights really set the overall tone. I really like the pendant lights. Congrats.
