Hackers & Skimmers...
Had my Gmail account compromised today: couldn't log in, and GOOG said I had to redo password, use their identity process, etc.
Took awhile to get back, with new password, etc. I look over at the top right of page, where it usually says my GOOG+ name and I see: Yamaha Comfirm, in place of my name. WTF?! I waddle into GOOG+, which I have been on about 3 times total, and there is my profile page with a new name: Yamaha Comfirm (sic). What the hell does comfirm mean, anyway?! Lol! Several posts on Google+ 'answers' pages, with very unhelpful and near obvious responses from that department, and I am still a bit paranoid. Anyone else ever had their Gmail/GOOG+ comp'd? BR, mD |
Not gmail, but had my yahoo email account compromised. Only thing that happened was spam was sent to all contacts in my address book. My password wasn't changed, so I was able to change it to be more secure. Not sure how they hacked my password to begin with without yahoo detecting them doing it. I mean shouldn't you only be allowed a few attempts before being locked out? Glad you got it all straightened out, and I too am a little paranoid still.....

I got my GOOG plus page back to 'me', though I tossed what little profile info I had on there. In the process I lost the few back & forth posts I had done with my very limited fellow GOOG+ 'circle' of friends...I had only been on GOOG+ a few times.
Gmail was quite quick to block 'me' and have me re-do my password going through some pretty good security steps, imo. The hack was from an ISP in 'Vietnam', though it could have bounced around the world before that, and Gmail caught it before they could spam my email list. Wish they could catch these bastards, and shoot them on Friday night pay TV along with all the child diddlers, murderers and other flotsam of society... |
I had my yahoo email hacked as well with the same M.O. as reported by AzX5. No damage as I don't use it for correspondence, only for using Yahoo messenger and to access a custom My Yahoo page for news. I changed to a stronger password and it's been good since.
I agree with mD, hackers and spammers are eScurge. |
I haven't had the problem so far but someone I know has.
I had to ask him to delete me from his contact list. |
