That was insane!

3 records out of 4 attempted, very nice.

Freefall jump: 128100 ft (24.26 miles)
Highest manned baloon flight: just shy of 25 miles (132000 ft)
Freefall speed record: 833.9MPH (Mach 1.24)

Not beaten:
Longest freefall: 4:20 min (compared to 4:36 minutes).

Nicely done, a little part of history has been written !

Saw the jump live, that's just awesome.

Was watching with my wife and 2 girls.

I do have to admit than when the sas opened, I was a little shaky. :wow:
I'm after all affraid of height.
And with the view, I felt right up there.

But, incredible accomplisment !

Insane... amazing... frightening... awesome... unbelievable...

My knees get weak looking down from the top of a tall ladder. That photo of him looking down from the capsule and then the other one where he has just jumped make me want to pass out.

Does anyone know what happened to the capsule? Were they able to bring it back down to earth or is it not floating in the statosphere?

That had to be one HECK of a rush! I could only imagine the feeling of standing on the edge of that platform overlooking the curvature of the earth.

Hard for me to even stand on a bucket! Incredible to watch..........

They remotely released the helium and then the capsule came down via parachute.

The adrenalin rush will keep him high for a while as balloon jumps are some of the most awesome , so my old dad told me when he was involved in all sorts of R&D more than half a century ago .I missed my 2 arranged balloon jumps due to weather .
The air pressure at over 800 miles per hour must be phenomenal even inside the suit .

But why would you call it a "Red Bull" jump?

You're just buying into allowing the commercializing of our lives....

I'm not a Red Bull drinker as I don't enjoy the taste of what bear piss must taste like but if not for Red Bull, Felix would not have been able to do the jump. If it wasn't the "Red Bull Jump" it could have been the "Tampax Leap" or "Viagra Boner Drop". :D

So becuase they brought us the 'jump' ( "but if not for Red Bull, Felix would not have been able to do the jump") they have bought your, others, agreement to use their name?


It is one think when you are contractually REQUIRED to use such silly names as Lucas Oil Stadium, or Arco Arena, or Red Bull Jump...but why use the name if YOU are not obligated?

I know you are kidding, but there are many ways to accurately describe this jump:

Record Setting free fall
Felix's Jump
Nutty German Sets Record Jump
etc
etc

Oddly enough, when I have talked about "the jump" with friends and colleagues, I have referred to it as something along the lines of "that crazy ass jump from 24 miles" rather than any brand name jump. I do like "Nutty German Sets Record Jump" though. That dude is nuts!

They should have called in Skrillex, he could have dropped the bass.
