How / Where do you go to SELL your vehicle?
 

Autotrader?
Craigslist?
Sign in the window?

I don't like to sell cars to friends/family/co-workers just in case something happens after the deal so I really don't want to put a sign in the window at work, plus we don't get much traffic anyway. No one would see it sitting in the driveway at home.

So...I going to have to rely on online advertising.

Depends on price. I've found CL to be great for cars under $5k, autotrader and cars.com to be better at higher price points. I've also sold cars on ebay, but never for the price I was looking for. Mostly if I needed to dump a car fast and advertise it across the US for free, then I throw it on ebay. I've also had good success with cargurus.com


Havent had much success with signs in the window.

I sold the 325xi and 535 on Craigslist very easily. Prices were in the 20k to 40k range.

We have Carmax down here and I've been surprised at cash numbers they have thrown at friends cars - I've used them to bargain against dealers at trade time.....

Autotrader.com and any brand specific forums you might have been a member of. If you go with CL, be prepared for a small attack of scammers trying to run one of a few common scams on you. For that, I have hated CL for selling anything of significant value. That's my experience anyway.

Sold my 01 3.0 X5 on CL. I posted on here and bimmer forums also, plus the sign in the window too.
