Then your exit ports would be Baltimore or Norfolk. Norfolk is easier for exporting of a used car as US customs will clear it faster.

Citizen of where? Most countries of Europe allow you to move there (citizen or not) and declare two cars per household exempt of VAT & duty, provided you have owned them for at least six months before your arrival date. Frequently there is an exemption not to sell in the first 6 to 12 months after you arrive.

For the CIS and individual countries, unknown.

Do a full fluid change before you go and snow tires as well. If you can pre-equip the car with a speedometer in km/hr and reset the displays to C termp, as well as setting the heat unit for Euro frequencies - do it. If you have Sirius, it's useless so sell it off. Some countries in the EU will require the rear fog light(s), unknown for the CIS.

If you end up paying duty & VAT to get the car in, would you save any money?

Artem, forget it, it is not worth the money... once back in Russia, just buy yourself a used E53 with enough life left in it to last you for however many months you will be there, then sell it and go back...

I moved around with the cars, and while most civilized countries will let you have your car imported free of tax if you prove ownership beyond specified period of time (6-12 months in most cases), in Russia this will not fly... as a matter of fact, even in the US I almost ran into an issue with the customs, but luckily, i kept my X5 registration up for the few years it was overseas ($36 a year for PA registration was a little price for a peace of mind - but I ended up paying customs dues for my own booze that came back to the US... next time i am leaving my collection at my mom's house!!!)

so... just get yourself another car while there... and call it a day... :)

+1...
Unfortunately the import laws in Russia are made to stop any old cars from entering the country. Another thing you have to deal with is engine displacement with a big V8 your taxes are a lot more than say with a 1.6i 4 banger...
Unless you find a "friendly" customs broker that can change the 4.6 to 1.6... LOL

HAHAHA...

Artem, if you are REALLY going to buy moskvitch of that vintage, make sure that you are getting yourself one made by AZLK, and not by Izh... that particular one at the link, looks like made by AZLK... also, make sure it has a AZLK engine as well, i think they stopped making the engines with the 408 model, and some of the 408 engines (bulletproof) made into 412 body style cars, and a lot of 412 models were made by both factories... but 412 engines were mostly made by Izh... poor quality control... lol.. AZLK was Moscow-based, so quality was a bit better...
