Replacing connectors
I have a dead TCU and when I opened up the 54 pin connector, I discovered that 2 of the wires have broken off/come loose.
Has anyone had any experience replacing one of these? I found the part. Is there a special tool for removing/inserting the pins? Other than carefully labeling everything is there anything special that I should do? I also found that there's no power to pins 17 or 18. Rather than trying to trace that back to wherever that's coming from, is there any reason not to pickup switched power from somewhere else and jumper it directly to that connector? |
About connectors and pin-pushers in general; yes, most likely a special tool is required. How do you imagine a pin is inserted so that it will not back out but still can be removed?
