Sirius and IPOD

Hi guys:

As usual, loving all of the information everyone is providing, still working on my first mod. I think I am finally beginning to understand my oftions for IPOD and Sirius for my 02 X w DSP.

I love the Head Unit and dont want oc hange it, but like the idea of sound coming threought the speakers as opposed to FM modulator.

Could I do this?

1)Take out OEM CD changer
2) Purchase AUX input from logjamelectronics.com
3) Purchase IPOD adapter from logjamelectronics
4) Purchase Car Sirius receiver from Best Buy
5) Run both cables to cup holders
6) COnnect Sirius and IPOD when I am using X, and use the controls of each unit respectively to control?

I realize this would not be totally clean, but I would get speaker sound and not damage head unit?

Make sense?, appreciate comments

I will need the production date on your door sticker in order to determine if you are compatible w/ Sirius. We can set you up with the Sirius kit and ice>Link so that everything runs together as if it were offered from factory.

The ice>Link Plus is compatible with your X5, however OEM Sirius from BMW is not. The Head Unit will need to be upgraded to a newer model (unless going aftermarket). You will still need to get a source for the line-in for Sirius.

Thanks Tom:

What are your thoughts on the OEM Sirius, is the new head unit expensive?

They can be - new HUs are about $450 + $400 core. I would recommend finding a used unit on eBay if possible - you will need a 10/02+ model.

I'm assuming you have Business CD? (sig says you're looking for GPS)

Are you looking to retrofit BMW Navigation or a portable GPS?

If you end up going with the AUX In. I have the one from Blitzsafe for sale.

there also might be more to it than just
finding a radio module 10/02+ though.
from what i've heard, it's the software
installed on the radio modules that's the key.
i recently purchased an '04 radio module and
i believe that it will not work.
