tape adapter

HI

Has anyone tried one of those tape adapters to get an AUX input. I was wondering if there was enough room to get the lead out past the Nav screen and whether there were any problems just leaving it in and allowing the lead to dangle somewhere.

well i tried and yes it works no the quality isnt that great yes there is room for the wire but it is very tight. i am thinking of getting the one from griffin that will allow operation from the steering wheel since icelink is nice but a bit out of my will to spend range

I have had a look and there does seeem to be a big gap out the back into the dash area I haven't yet found a way into the dash though to get the wire back out. I have ordered one of those radio transmitters but I have been told that the quality is poor. I was thinking about making a tape adapter with a flexible pcb cable so it is 'flat' to get it past the screen easier, just the wire hanging from the dash is not too good. It would be nice to get it down to the ash tray hidden.

Ice links are £99 fitted ! This is not a old Cortina this a X5 got to be worth £99 and the sound quailty will be ten times better or at least get a BMW aux lead that is only £35

Trouble is I haven't got an Ipod. I have a 40Gig mp3 player. Unfortunately My Sept 05 X5 seems to be about 1 month too early to have an MP3 cd player. I agree though that it is not a cortina and I therefore want it to look good or will not do it at all. I do have a 60Gig video/mp3 player that can plug into the AV socket but it is not good for music because of the non-syncing screen.

I think I will just stick to the cd player and keep swapping discs. Just interested at the moment on what is possible.

I am off to the lake district tomorrow so will have to take a few discs with me!
