X3 Cd Changer cable
Hi,
This probably is a repost, sorry. Unfortunately my search did not help me a lot so I'll ask about this again... Where can I find the cd changer cable in X3? My understanding is that it is in the center console under the front arm rest. However, I was not able to find it. I removed the inside plastic inside 'storage' that just pulls out to see underneath (where the ebrake mechanism is etc). Unfortunately I was not able to find it. The car is a Canadian spec so I think it should be prewired. Do I have to remove something more? Is it two connectors as in E46? The goal is to buy and install icelink - what else ;) Anyone has pics of X3 icelink installation? - p |
It's there. I had a hard time finding it. The cables will be coming from inside the center console, on the drivers side, in the very back corner. The connectors are wrapped up in some cloth. You might need to dig a little deeper, but it's there.

Thanks!
I'll take another try some day soon.

It is a bear. In the one we did the cable was under the carpet and you basically had to pull some console bolts to get to it...

The cables will be under the storage bin, underneath the center console - sometimes the cabling is underneath the carpeting.

Thanks Tom for your help and the pic! Similar what I saw. Just hoping I don't have to remove a lot of pieces to get to them. I don't have Sirius. It is just now too cold to do anything so have to wait until we have another nice warm sunny day...

I pulled up the centre control bin today looking for the CD Changer wires. I did see cables wrapped in cloth, but they seemed plugged into something and had that tag around them, like in the pic. I presume those aren't the prewiring cables then?
Is the prewiring just "hanging around" freely? Cuz it may be caught beneath the carpeting.......which would be a PITA should I try to install the changer. If I get a mp3 capable OEM Changer, would I be able to play mp3s, despite the fact the headunit itself cannot read them? |
