No Disc error

My CD Changer was bought on Ebay, part # 82 11 0 028 760 and it came out of an M3. I have a '02 X5 w/NAV nonDSP. Installed the CD changer and all worked fine for about a month. Now, I just keep getting the "no discs" message on the nav screen whenever I try to switch to the CDs. Any ideas?

Same CDs in the changer or did you recently switch them?

was listening to book on CD so I've been changing them. Why? I have 2 cartridges and have tried both of them, filled with different CDs. No go.

Just wondered if you had recently put a CD in there with mp3s on it or something.

Does it sound like it's spinning the CD when you stand near it?

I have 3 CDs of the book and 3 cd's with MP3's on them. When this first happened, it flipped thru all 6 cd's but now whenever I change to CD mode it just says "No disc" and doesn't even spin the CD at all.

I don't know if you've checked the fuses for your audio system yet, but I'd recommend that. Sometimes, pulling the fuses for 30 secs, then replacing them solves some issues like this. Make sure the fuses are still in good shape when you take them out.

The fuse diagram is in the owner's manual or on the inside of the rear compartment opposite the CD changer.

I hope someone who's had this specific issue can chime in.

I'll try that. Thanks

Insert the cartridge, then listen to what it does: It should pull all six cd-s in (all the way), and then start to play the first. If it just 'clicks' through all of them (and doesn't pull them in the whole way), then you probably have the same problem I (and quite a few other people) had.
I'm no expert but there is a sensor (or something) that has to be replaced for the CDC to detect the CDs properly. That's an approx $20 part, and can be replaced in half an hour by a professional. The whole repair shouldn't really be more than $50-60.
