Another AUX input problem

Here's my problem:

I installed the AUX input into 05 X3 without NAV without a problem. Had to take the 3 wires and put them into the plug with the 2 existing wires (just as instructions said I might have to do).

I have my ROADY2 XM plugged into the AUX input and it will work initially for about 20 minutes, then the AUX disappears and the radio switches on. When I hit the mode button on the radio, it then doesn't recognize the AUX, only radio or CD. I have double/triple checked the connections and none are loose. When you turn the car off for a few minutes and then restart it, the AUX input will work for about 5 or 10 minutes, and then the same thing happens.

What gives? It's driving my CRAZY!

My daughter's car is doing the same thing with losing the aux connection. But, she can get it right back without cycling the car on and off. Same car configuration except my aux connectors didn't require any changes. Don't know the reasons for this, but if anyone else does, let's talk about it.

Still have the problem. Recognizes the AUX for about 5 minutes, then the AUX disappears and the regular radio starts playing.

Really getting annoying and can't seem to find anyone on the internet that knows what the deal is.

Any BMW techs out there?

ANYONE??

Thanks!

Hi,

Take a look at the diagram circuit (page 12) of the *pdf

you'll find the solution to have the AUX audio-source full time!
It's not only plug and play 3 wires ...
You must place electronic elements between Audio Right & Left.

Flouman the MAN!

Great. Thanks for the diagram. But help a non-electronic brother out here. How do you hook up a connector between the right and left audio?

Hi Trinity,

You can find here an DIY to input the electronic element in a female mini-jack,

http://www.kaiser-media.de/bmw/aux-in/index.htm

It's in german, but the picture is multi-language !!!

Hi all,

To be complete, ...

When the connector installed,

while pressing on the CD-key (1 to 6) of the Navi

the volume of entry of the AUX reader has increases.

1 : the lowest volume (MIN)

6 : volume most extremely (MAX)

I do not have the NAV, so do you know how to change it w/o NAV system? I checked the BMW business CD service menu, but it seems that I can only change the GAL setting, I did not notice any AUX input level settings :tsk:

ps. My SW (BMW Business CD) version is pretty old, from year 2004.

No, sorry ... I didn't check it when I had the business CD installed in the car.

Nothing, when while pressing on the CD-key? :tsk:

Test ... with the others keys, sometimes by pressing 5 sec, you unlock secret fonctions!
