I really hope it is tested properly. I have been a dealer for dension products for 2 years, and have had a LOT of issues with the icelinks, especially non-BMW applications. Luckily for BMW cars, the icelink seems to be developed and tested pretty well.

Tom -

It appears to me that the new Dice product is functionally the same as the iceLink Plus except for the navigation setup. Is this a fair assessment? Are there any notable differences?

The gateway500 seems interesting, but I'm trying to figure out how it works. Is this appliance only for vehicles with telematics (Audi MMI, BMW iDrive) or does it have its own operating system? It seems to offer up some big possibilities (like carrying your entire movie collection in your car).

Thanks.

The kits are very similiar to the Dension piece - the main point being the iPod is "unlocked" rather using a proprietary UI and AUX support. There's still a few features I like better in the Dension kit, and we'll have a comparison of the kits when the Dice kit is released.

One thing we're missing here - getting the video to the NAV screen. The Gateway has a video out jack, but will still need the VSM in order to get a video out. The Gateway isn't even shipping overseas yet, but we should have a tester coming soon and we'll be able to report on what tricks it can do.
