Wire Harness 2001 X5
 

I have desperately tried to search for a wire harness that will enable me to install an aftermarket screen in my 2001 X5 4.4i non Navi. I bought a Scorshe 5 series bulky harness that does not fit. I also tried this no name harness that seems to be the right size but the locking lever from the factory harness did not allow it to snap in...

Should I just cut the factory harness off and hard wire my new head unit?

Metra does not make a harness or kit for this year/model.

If I should cut, does anyone know of a good source for wire color descriptions?

I bought a TIS CD-Rom 01/2005 on Ebay. Can I find color codes there?
