Upgrading sound system with DSP

Hey, guys.
Here I have roughly two questions about upgrading sound system.
I have 2006 4.4 X5 w/ navigation system and I want to upgrade my x5's sound system with DSP.
1)
Should I also work on the audio wiring harness? I mean... Do I need to change ordinary audio wires for premium sound system although I have navigation system?
2)
I found out that I need two subwoopers(part no.65138379378) and
amplifier for HIFI DSP(part no.65126940977).
Is it possible that a local dealershop simply changes the amplifier with DSP and install subwoopers? that's it? or... I need some more difficult labors?

p.s. I have one more stupid question. Does X5 with premium sound system have better tweeters in rear seats compare to non-DSP sound system?

This is a do-able project, particularly if you already have Nav in the car. I may be in the minority, but I really do like the DSP system and the way it integrates with the car's other electronics.

1) You will need to do a little work on the wiring harness. The DSP amp plugs are different from the standard amp plugs, primarily because there are a lot more speakers. So, the main change is to get the three DSP amp plugs and splice them into your existing audio harness.

2) It is more difficult than to install the DSP amp and subwoofer. Also, you do not need to buy the brand new part number that you list. You can purchase a used amp on eBay for hundred$ less. Also, eBay is probably a good place to find the sub too.

3) Yes, the tweeters are different in a DSP system. You could upgrade them to the BMW speakers, or alternatively, you could also do something like a Bavarian Sound Wurks Stage 1 speaker upgrade along with the DSP upgrade.

It depends on how complicated you want to get on the system. This is a great thread that explains on how to get aftermarket pieces to work with DSP.

Just wanted to pop in and say that we think you can get much better results than a stock DSP system by going aftermarket. You might want to take a look here:
