Best Interconnect Cable for Aux to iPod?

hello all

i have a new 06 x3 with DSP/Sirius/Nav/Aux input....So far, so good.

Does anybody have any recommendations for the interconnect btw the aux and the ipod? Will any old off the shelf male to male connect cable do, or is there a way to actually connect up to the bottom part of the ipod?

Thanks

p.s. I'm aware that icelink is a better solution, but with the Sirius we figured relying on the aux as a back up woulld be fine

You want to go through the dock connector if possible, however I would recommend the DICE kit for your X3.

You've already got everything else installed in your X3 - no turning back now! ;)

Honestly, I wouldn't bother - I would rather wait and get the DICE. Between the AUX connnector ($39) and the adapter (approx $39) and needed cables ($10), you're already 50% into the cost of the DICE kit, not including installation.

You will still need a charging source and will not have control or ID3 text on the radio display.

Well, the aux is already installed, so i think all i need is "male to male" cable, unless i've got it wrong. BMW installed it at the dealer

So, it may be that all i need is the connector??

I realize this is an inferior set up...but with FM, Sirius and CDs, we have plenty of options, and will only use IPOD if needed (this is a weekend/summer car for us, we live in NYC and don't drive nearly as much as most of the people on this forum, i'd think)

With that said...Do you guys sell anything? If so, anything that will connect to the dock connector (if that indeed will improve things)

I used some male-to-male cable that I had sitting around, it worked fine. It's not the ideal setup since it doesn't charge the iPOD but it works fine for playback.

As for the dock connector piece, we don't. You may be able to find something at your local apple store or Best Buy.

Male to Male cables we have, he needs a Dock Connector piece with an integrated headphone jack.
