Thanks for the info, it's good for members to have options.
I have a couple of questions.
Why only an 8" driver? JL Audio is using a 10".
Do you have a price yet?

Micah D. Cranman 07-17-2006 11:07 AM

An 8" driver needs less airspace, and reducing the required airspace allows us to develop the enclosure out of MDF (wood) rather than plastic or fiberglass. Because we can develop the enclosure out of wood instead of fiberglass / plastic, we are able to deliver the solution to you at a much better price point than we would be able to otherwise provide, and an 8" driver is more than enough output for most of our customers.

We are in the final stages of development and will be completing that phase this week. From there, we will begin manufacturing.

Pricing is TBD, but estimated in the $800 range as a full system, $550 range without amplifier (we will not be selling this enclosure without pre-loading a subwoofer).

If you are interested and want to be put on the waiting list, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Just put "X5 sub system" in your subject line.

what about european x5 with tv/navi no dsp. will it work? is everything on the bavarian soundworks designed for american headunits? are there many differencies between an american and european stock headunit?

Micah D. Cranman 08-16-2006 10:25 AM

Our products are designed for the U.S. market. However, many are compatible with Non-U.S. vehicles, including European vehicles.

It appears there are only minor differences between U.S. and non-U.S. market BMW's with the same type of audio system (i.e. standard 10 speaker or Premium). The only vehicles that seem to have significant differences are those with the base audio system (6 speaker system), which we do not have here in the U.S.

Regardless, this product WILL work in your vehicle since all it needs to operate is an appropriate audio signal, turn-on signal, and power connections. These are all certainly available on your vehicle, though they may not correspond to the same wire colors we have in the U.S. depending on your specific vehicle options.
