premium sound vs non premium sound

hey all...as i await the arrival of my '05 4.4 i find myself pondering about the premium sound option? I did not order premium sound due to the fact that I will upgrade the system myself. But, my question is does premium sound come with more speakers or are the speakers just better? Also, if I was to start modding the stock system what do you guys recommend for the speakers?

On a side note the wait is killing me...stealer said I have to wait another 5-7 working days !

In my opinion, if you are planning on upgrading the system yourself then you are much better off not going with the Premium Sound System (DSP). The reason is the DSP will limit what you can and can't do, and since you are likely going to add your own amps and subs, why spend the money on the DSP system in the first place.

The number of speakers in the cabin area are the same. The only difference is the DSP system adds two subs in the passenger side rear compartment. The subs are very small, however.

As for replacement speakers, here's some good examples of ones to consider

I have DSP and it is good but if I knew what I know now I would go down the after market route you can buy a lot of Speakers for £1095 !! I have used the echo stuff twice and the novelity soon wears off

I had the DSP in my '01 and dind't get it in my '04, the differences weren't substantial enough to spend the money.

I absolutely agree, that's why I am getting aftermarket speakers and such.
Any ideas what to get without spending an arm/leg. I've had MB Quarts and Polk Audio in my previous cars but I've heard good things about Focal.
