04 X3 and Sat radio
Hi All !
I am new here and this seems like a very thorough MB...kewl... I am also a new owner of an 04 X3 2.5i without NAV The dealer wants over 1k to install Sirius radio and I am not a sirius fan..I have XM all over the place... I have been searching and from what I see I can install XM direct into the vehicle...I am a capable DIY...no worries there... But, can anyone recomend a product to use...the vehicle is prewired for alarm phone and cd changer...and the business CD is non dsp but has the mode button and I just put in the aux plug... Any help or recomendations are appreciated...I look forward to being a member of this group... Thanks Nick |

We've got you covered for either XM or Sirius: Sirius Satellite Radio - e83 X3 w/ Business CD (non SA-693) http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=280 XM Direct Satellite Radio Package for BMW & Mini http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=267 Either kit is a simple install. Let me know which provider you're interested in and we'll get you set up with a kit. |
Whoa !
Thanks Tom,
I am also using my IPOD through the aux jack...would be nice to inlcude it all in a neat package.... But for the XM, my sat of preference, ??'s 1) Can i direct enter a channel from the Business CD control head..? 2) What do I need to look for to ensure the XM direct unit works in my vehicle? 3) Where should the XM direct be mounted...? SOOOO many questions !!!! |
More surfing...
So I had dinner and I went down to the SAV and looked around...now Ifound the Sirius install PDF online....
A wrinkle...it says I should find a power jack and two antenna jacks together plus an audio jack... What I found is a 4 pin flat what looks like power jack and two antenna cables pinned together in a harness that is wrapped...like the pics... I could not find an audio conenctor...HOWEVER, this car has that SOS BMW assist button....in the rear driver side back I find up on the wall what looks like some sort of amplifier...for the radio I am guessing and lower down in the well I see what looks like it might be the cellular phone unit...it has 3 antenna looking cables into it on one side and on the other a larger connector....is it POSSIBLE that the audio connector I need is plugged in there...or am I ALL wrong..?? Hi Tom,
thanks for the info...pse see my post above...BUT I will re-interate the question and or statement.... .now Ifound the Sirius install PDF online.... A wrinkle...it says I should find a power jack and two antenna jacks together plus an audio jack... What I found is a 4 pin flat what looks like power jack and two antenna cables pinned together in a harness that is wrapped...like the pics... If that is the case my guess is I cannot conenct the XM direct there....it would appear that I would have to do it then under the console....right? Nick |

I understand that Tom....BUT I cannot locate the 6 pin adapter...the harness budnle that is wrapped only had the three pin and the two antenna pins in the rear of the truck...as stated is it possible the 6 pin is attached to the BMW assist module deck below the harness....
OR should I look further up under the console as opposed to the rear of the vehicle.. Lastly are there any KNOWN issues using this setup if the BMW assist modules are installed...? If they are and I DO NOT use it...can I locate the six pin from that module and attach it as described.. Lastly, is it possible to see the installation instructions for the unit...? Thanks a bunch Nick |
