STEG amplifiers
I am thinking of getting the STEG QM 45.4X QMOSII to power my peerless seperates. Is this amplifier good for SQ?

Absolutely !!!

When you get a hiss like that, it usually means that you have a gain setting mismatch.
There's no guarantee that another amp won't do the same thing. What HU do you have? |

The HX-D2 seems to be identical to the US DRZ 9255. VERY good sounding HU.
In passthrough mode with DSP turned off, the sound is almost as good as the Nak CD700 Mk II, and I'm sure it will work for far longer :) But you can have hiss with it, if the gains are set wrong. |

Haven't had an opportunity to listen to the STEG amps, but they are absolutely beautiful. Saw them at NOPI a couple months ago, and they were the only thing at the whole show I liked! I've heard good things.

A hissing sound is miss matched gains. (Easy fix)
A buzzing sound (gets louder with RPM's) is alternator whine (fixable but BMWs are notorious for this problem) |
