STEG amplifiers

I am thinking of getting the STEG QM 45.4X QMOSII to power my peerless seperates. Is this amplifier good for SQ?

thanks! I hope i don't get the hissing sound with this new AMP. My old aplifier which is a rockford p4004, I get a slight hiss when I turn up the volume. Is this hissing sound caused by the amplifier or the headunit?

When you get a hiss like that, it usually means that you have a gain setting mismatch.

There's no guarantee that another amp won't do the same thing.

What HU do you have?

I see. I was previously using a pioneer 9650. But I just sold it and ill be swapping it for a Clarion HX D2:) . Any feedback on the clarion?

The HX-D2 seems to be identical to the US DRZ 9255. VERY good sounding HU.

In passthrough mode with DSP turned off, the sound is almost as good as the Nak CD700 Mk II, and I'm sure it will work for far longer :)

But you can have hiss with it, if the gains are set wrong.

Haven't had an opportunity to listen to the STEG amps, but they are absolutely beautiful. Saw them at NOPI a couple months ago, and they were the only thing at the whole show I liked! I've heard good things.

A hissing sound is miss matched gains. (Easy fix)
A buzzing sound (gets louder with RPM's) is alternator whine (fixable but BMWs are notorious for this problem)

Micah, having read your comment about the STEG being so good, I cannot wait to get my hands on my new headunit. Sad thing is, I have to wait till next week to get it. ARGH! the wait is killing me :) . One more thing, You carry rainbow seps right? I know they are wonderful but here in the Philippines, morel, focal and peerless are the known competitors of rainbow. Have you tried these brands on your audio install?
