Installing Basslink II - Help Me

Ok I got the Basslink, now what?

How do I connect the battery to the amp? I dont want a cable going across my car so it is obvious.

After I connect the battery then what is next?

What parts do I need? Just connect the two connectors I got with my basslink to the factory amp? I read the write-up on the front page, but it doesnt say anything about how to connect te car battery to the speakers.

thanks in advance

Circuit City said they would do it for $65 but they would need to tap into my headunit.

On the amplifier side of the Basslink, there should be input terminals for power and ground. Do you have the installation manual for the Basslink? If so, there should be a diagram in it of where to put the power and ground connections into the amplifier side. As to where to run the wires, that is totally up to you. It depends on where you mount the unit itself.

In the X you can get a good constant (+12V) from the power and ground point located near the spare plug tire under the trunk floor. The power and ground point is a plastic green box in my X. You should find several ‘empty’ power taps that you can use to power your BASSLINK amp. Each available power tap has enough current capacity to power your amp and is protected by a fuse.
You also need a remote on/off +12v to turn the amp when you turn the ignition on.
The picture shows where I found the (+12v) remote 'turn-on' source connector on my X. I found this connector somewhere under the CD changer on the left side of the trunk. You may not have the exact same connector so use a voltmeter to test each wire to find which one works with the ignition.

thanks!

I was too busy looking at the pictures I didnt read carefully enough.

Everything looks very simple now :)

The only thing I need are: crimp & snap connectors
Nowhere seems to carry them (best buy, tweeters, circuit city). Looks like I have to go on a mission. Probably radio shack will have them

you might not need to run a remote turn on wire with the basslink...looking at the owner's manual for the basslink (page 6), if you run the woofer through the speaker level inputs instead of the RCA inputs, you won't need a remote on/off as long as you set the switch to "auto turn on". the only thing of concern is whether the system produces a false turn on, in which case you might get a popping sound when turning the system on and off. maybe someone who has connected via the speaker level inputs w/o a remote turn on can chime in on whether they have had popping from the woofer.
