If you have a basslink what settings do you use?

The bass boost I turned it up a little more than 1/2 and it did improve the bass response, but it sounded kind of muddy, but I also turned up the crossover a little too.

Just making sure, is the basslink supposed to be louder than my speakers? Maybe it is just the type of music I listen to. I listen to 99.9% vocal trance (future trance albums, dream dance albums, etc). The .1% of the time I listen to hip-hop/rap some of the songs really kick and I like that feeling. That's sort of what I'm expecting all the time I guess. Possibly even more.

-Yes, the problem with my Basslink was the wiring. I had the original 8gauge wire, but it wasn't cut. I cut a good 15 feet off of it. It improved 80% but it was still cutting out at very high volumes so the only thing I could think of was to solder the wires tapping into the factory system. That solved the problem. The basslink is in the trunk next to the factory amp standing up. I have to unscrew the basslink now to reach the factory amp area.

I was thinking of upgrading to this:

maybe that's more what I'm looking for?

Try turning down the gain a bit and see if that helps. Also, keep the both bass for the tone controls and the 80hz control on the dsp flat(on zero) and see how that sounds. That's how I have my audio settings set up. Fiddle around with the settings and see what you like. I have both those settings on zero with the PLV-7 with the bass boost on the PLV-7 up half way. I actually prefer how that sounds rather than having the boost down.

I couldn't be happier the PLV-7 and I think you'll like it too if that feeling of being engulfed in bass is what you want. I think you saw the pics I posted of the box, but just in case you don't remember, here they are. It doesn't take up too much space and it gets loud. You're not going to get the crazy shaking that you would get from a comparable system because there is virtually no mechanical vibration coming from the box. But it does get loud, like the last review on crutchfield said, headache loud. That's what the bass knob is for though, so you can choose to have headache loud bass if you want. There is some noise when the bass hits, but I think it's the X itself and only on songs with deep bass. My favorite song to listen to right now is Akon's "I Wanna Love You". The bass line sounds really good and loud with the PLV-7. Let me know if you have any other questions about the PLV-7.
