upgrade to DSP
Hey everyone,
I was just wondering what exactly it takes to upgrade from the normal soundsystem to the DSP. I have purchased a dsp amplifier, bmw oem subwoofer, and mounting brackets. How can I tell if my car was prewired for dsp? If it wasnt, what kind of cost am I looking at to wire it properly? Right now I have the business cd/radio without the dsp button, but I will be getting the 16:9 screen soon. |
Honestly, I don't see the need. You can get a much better sound with aftermarket pieces.

Your car is not pre-wired for DSP, but it is not that hard to adapt the existing wiring. The DSP amp has 3 plugs that are different from the two plugs on the standard amp. You can get the DSP plugs from a BMW dealer and then just splice them into your existing wiring with the help of the handy wiring diagram software. |

Depends on how deep you want to go - BSW may have a speaker package for you or JL for their X5-specific stealthbox.

DSP is overpriced & the subs suck
