GROUND LOOP! Arrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh!

DAMMIT!

The dreaded ground loop. Even with the radio off I sometimes have it. How do I even begin to troubleshoot a ground loop?

ALE - are you hearing this with the DICE in use or all of the time?? I was getting some engine noise with the DICE and Tom at EAS sold me a noise suppressor and so far it seems to have worked great - installed this weekend and I did not notice any accelerator noise this morning on the way to work.

Yes I noticed it while using the tape adapter, so I turned it off. I still have it. I never had the dang noise before either.

The noise suppressor installs where the DICE wiring connects to the CD changer wiring. Very simple install.

The engine whine is more than likely a side effect of the cassette adapter. I do not have a cassette deck in this vehicle, but I had bad engine whine when using the cassette on my previous setup. So bad I refused to use it. I am thinking the DICE is in order...

How does a ground loop get started where you never had one before? That is what scares me. I will double check now that DICE is in and cassette adapter out.
