Eclipse AVN5500 In-Dash Navigation

Will this fit the X5?

I have a DSP system, is that going to make my installation difficult? I am used to just opening up the front and swapping out the headunits. Is there more required for this in the X5?

Do I have to pull wires from somewhere?

Ive found it for around $1,000. I think it is an excellent deal.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks guys.

The link you posted shows it for 1699.99 USD. If it is infact 1,000 USD that is a good deal. I would be interested in this unit if someone has it installed in their X5

yeah Crutchfield is expensive.

Sonic is a great company have ordered from them before. Do not know about the other one.

The Bezel runs for $250-300 so factor that in as well, unless you can make your own or go without it.

I have the Eclipse AVN 5435 Double Din with Navi, DVD, touchscreen, etc... I installed it myself in my 2000 X5 with the DSP system. As far as fitment it sides right in after you cut the bracket that seperated the top and bottom OEM headunits. Wiring is another story. I ended up replacing the DSP with a new amp and sub. It was much easier, for me, then trying to wire around the dsp componets. Also selling the OEM DSP amp and Sub paid for most of the cost for the new equipment. Goodluck!

Hey Silver 5 I have a non-DSP system, so do you think the install would be simple?

Also, do you have any pics of it? I was also wondering if you think the Eclipse system is better than or comparable to the Pioneer double din unit that other members have used?

Thanks in advance!

I love my Eclipse. This is the 2nd car that I've bought this unit for. I sold my first Eclipse in my old 350z, I had to have it again in my X5. For the price you can't go wrong. No unit can touch the features this Eclipse has for $1000. Never had a problem with the GPS loosing signal. I love the Phone numbers feature that allows me to find the number of my favorite resturants on the fly and place an order for carry out. Also the dual slot is a great feature. It has plenty on A/V inputs and out put for extra TV's and or rear camera.

As far as wiring goes I believe that you can just buy a wiring harness for the non DSP X5. Should just plug and play. All the wires are located behind the OEM unit. Just check with a local Car Audio dealers for more info on that. But the actual fitment is beautiful. It's like the dash was made to accept a Double Din headunits. Give me a few second and I'll post a pick.

thanks!!

Wow that looks really good! I may have to go with the Eclipse since it is a really good deal and its seems to have everything one could want.

Thanks for posting the pics. I am no electronics guru but maybe the install of this would be relatively easy.....I just dont like the idea of sawing the bridge between the two stock decks!

I kept mine and plan on super gluing back in place if I ever sell the X. It's just a small cut on each side.

anyone know where I can get the wiring harness for the dsp system?

all I need to do is take out the dash, attach the wires leading up to the harness and that's it?

I am trying to avoid pulling wires from the back to the front.
