Radar Detector - hardwiring for an X3?

Has anyone hardwired a radar detector for visor mounting in an X3? I would like to locate a the right +12v 'switched' wire in the switch panel in the headliner. Any suggestions?

THANKS, Doug

While it's e46-specific, the same procedures can be used on the X3:

Hard wire

There is a switched wire that is used for the PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator light. I have used it for my Passport wiring.

Sunroof switch would be preferred, I wouldn't recommend using any of the airbag electronics (even lights) as the dealer would frown upon this if the vehicle was brought in for service.
