BSW Mid-Woofer Install Question

I'd call BSW, but their phone service seems to be out ( )

When you install the midwoofers for the doors, it seems that there really is no positive and negative for them. According to the directions I got, there is a small connector and a larger one (larger being positive). However, the connectors I got are both the same size.

So, I went about connecting the copper wire to the positive terminal, and the silver wire to the negative. Is this right? Just for giggles I reversed them to see if it made any difference and it did zippo...

Also, the directions state that the positive is on the right, negative on the left. Is that when you're looking at it from the top or the bottom? (Doesn't say, I assumed it was from the top).

One last thing, has anybody found a good tool to remove the vertical sunshades? I have bent two small screwdrivers trying to pop them out.

Thanks!

The positive is in fact the copper wire. I would have to look at a speaker in front of me to double check which terminal is which, but I'm sure it is wired correctly. Please send me an email, when I get into the office first thing Monday I will open up a speaker box and double check which terminal is which for you.

I had the same question regarding the correct polarity but here's what I did:

Before desoldering the stock speaker leads from the pod I took a note of which wire is connected to which terminal in the pod. Since the polarity on the stock speakers are marked, I now know which pod terminal is positive and which is negative.

I then connected a 1.5v battery between the terminals of the stock speaker making sure to match the speaker terminal marked positive (+) with the battery positive (+). I then took a note of how the cone moved (either in/suck or out/push).

I then connected the 1.5v battery to the Rainbow speaker and if the cone moved the same way as the stock speaker, I marked the terminal connected to the battery positive (+) as the speaker positive (+) terminal.

Following this process ensured that all the speakers are installed in-phase.

I have found that there is no need to remove the vertical sunshade when installing the speakers in the rear panels. Its tight but entirely possible with a shorty screwdriver.

Scott sorry about the phones that day they are being fixed. Did this get taken care of along with the other post you made? Let me know!
