Crossovers

I am wondering if the crossovers for the e53 non-DSP/HK/NAV are the passive type attached to the speaker wire or are they built into the OEM amp's output?

I ask because o the dash mid there seems to be some sort of line filter attached to it?

Thanks.

There are three versions of the audio system, but I think that only the medium ("HiFi") and the best ("Top HiFi" or DSP) versions came to the US. Both of these have active crossovers built into the amplifiers.

Correct, the US versions come with the crossovers built into the amplifiers. If it is a Euro car, the speakers will be powerd off of the radio with no amplifier at all.
