Factory Stereo Won't Work

I have a 2002 X5 w/CD player, no navigation. The CD player and multi info display will not work. All of the buttons light up, but no display or sound. I took the car to the local BMW dealer, they tested the factory am and said it is good and that the cd player or multi info display needed replaced. I have replaced both of them and I still have the same problem with the new pices. I am unsure of what to do now. Any info or suggestions would be great.

Probably still, the module needs replacing. Any water in the spare tire area?

no water. for the longest time it acted like there was a short somewhere, because it would turn off for a while then it wold turn back on for a while (days) and now it has just stoped completely. the dealer has said it is not a short.

I am having the same problem. Today, as soon as I turned on my car, the radio unit turned on as usual and then it went blank. I have pressed all buttons and there is no response (No navigation/radio). The red light that shows the head unit is on is off, but all the buttons are still illuminated. Does anybody know what is causing this issue?
