Alpine PLT-5 LAT system...

Anybody know anything about these? According the the audio shop guys, they are equivalent to two 10's, and sound great. Pretty small, as well. $600 includes everything for install, plus a remote for bass control and internal amplifier.

Thinking about integrating a sub into my stock system. I want more than the 8" or 10" that I could put in the stock location, so that leaves me with the option of either makin ga custom location on the side (time-consuming, and difficult), a false floor (same, plus expensive), or a simple, removable box.

I want something inconspicuous, though, so two 10's or something in a typical angled box doesnt fit the bill. Plus that takes up a lot of space. Mounting this in the back, against the seat (plexi side in) would be pretty stock-looking, and fairly easyto remove, if necessary.

A couple guys have installed the Alpine's. Different model # but here's pics of one of them: http://www.xoutpost.com/bsws-mobile-e...?highlight=lat

Hey thanks man.
That one looks to be almost twice the size though. and the other one has a slanted front, which I think, if I mounted it backwards, would just about match up to the seats, which woulg go a long ways to making it look OEM-ish.

the PLV-7 is not that much bigger than the PLV-5...the space you lose is worth the bang you get. The shop I got my PLV-7 installed at installed a PLV-5 after they did mine and said that the PLV-5 sounds more like 1 10" instead of 2. Plus I think the difference in price is not that much, so it's worth it to get the PLV-7. You can always turn down bass, but you can't turn it up if you want more. The only issues I have with the PLV-7 is that it doesn't hit the really deep bass (below 30hz) and the bass knob is very sensitive in that it's either all the way on or off; it's hard to tune it in between. Maybe they installed the wrong bass knob :dunno: But for the price and the space you save compared to a comparable system (and the fact that you don't have to worry about where to mount the amp), it's worth getting the PLV-7.
