JL stealth or BSW sub

Trying to decide which option is better for me. Does anyone have exp with either sub?

I say for the money .. you go for this:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-IeHYHyM...1000&I=500PLV7

That thing will blow away both of those subs. It is also very smalll.

THAT Alpine setup is pretty nice. Just as good as a JL Audio 10w7?

Aimster 07-31-2007 09:31 PM

The JL Audio 10w7 has the same amount of power.

JL is known for quality subs. Alpine is known for quality amps.

people who have the alpine system say it sounds like 2 10s.

I have installed both JL and Alpine I am a dealer of both. The PLV-7 does rock BUT, it is huge you will lose about 1/4 of your cargo area. with the BSW and the Stealth box you get great bass with no loss of cargo space.

Yes while the Alpine setup may provide much more bass the original need was for stealth. I think many of you would be amazed at the amount of bass that is provided by the BSW Stealth subwoofer. It really is amazing for its small size.

I am interested in the BSW. Do you have any pics of the un installed sub? I have fiberglassed many enclosures and have considered doing my own, but at my age and place in life, it is much easier to have a prefab box, or a custom one made for me.

I have a BSW stealth sub/Alpine amp. I wasn't impressed. I had to max my crossover and gain to get it to thump like I wanted. I have DSP/Navigation/CD as well.

Remember....we are talking about an 8" sub...you can only get so much out of it. Now, if you could get a 10" in the same compartment...you would have something.

Bring me the truck JL Stealth box w/A1200 Amp all in 850.00 all parts and labor

OK, here is my $0.02.

I am in the business and used to compete in stereo competitions. I am also an audiophile (don't get me started - too many expensive hobbies)

I have the full BSW system, including the sub, and it is great. Fit, finish, sound - A+ on all marks.

GET IT NOW. You will not be disappointed. Sure you can try to save a few bucks, but you will not get the same product and will regret it IMHO.

SoCalX5, I think you have something wrong with your system. I have the bass all the way down and it hits as hard as the 10" in a sealed box in my M3 and harder then the quad 8's in my explorer. I would bet that somewhere you have a gain turned down. If anything I found all the BSW systems (have one in my MZ3 also) to be bass heavy. Yes, if you are looking for pure cheap sub box THUMP with no clarity and definition, this is not for you. However, most BMW, and especially X5 owners have more refined audio tastes then that.

thanks
brad
