PAC OEM-2

I have a 2002 BMW X5 without DSP. I am installing a Eclipse AVN5510 Navigation head unit. It was recommended to me to use the PAC OEM-2 to integrate with the factory amplifiew. Do I really need this or can I install without it? Will it affect the quality of my sound if I don't use it?

What is the purpose of the "amplifiew"??? Never heard of one I have the Eclipse AVN 7000 and I had the PAC steering wheel module installed so that I could use all of the facotry steering wheel radio controls and it works great. Eclipse makes a great head unit you should love it.
