Easier Install: Stealth Box or BSW sub
I'm relatively new to the forum and wanted to thank you guys/gals for all of the wonderful information that is collected here.
I have searched the forum trying to determine which sub is an easier install. I'm picking up my 04 X5 3.0 without DSP next week and want to add a sub to the OEM system. I am very close to purchasing the stealthbox and adding the Alpine MRP-250 amp. I have read the install article as well as BSW's non-DSP installation guide to no avail. I realize that neither setup will be a simple plug and play situation. What I am trying to avoid is installing an LOC in my system. I want to keep the stock head unit, however, I don't want to run a set of wires from the unit to the amp. Is this avoidable with either system? I'm not at all familiar with installing a Line Output Converter. Is it a real pain? As I said above, I couldn't find any article/thread that directly addressed this question. I apologize if there is one and I missed it. Thanks in advance for your advice. |
If the Alpine MRP-250 amp accepts speaker level inputs, then you should NOT need a LOC. I tapped my Alpine MRP-M350 into the rear woofer lines out of the OEM amp to drive my sub without any issue.
