Dension Ice Install

Has anyone fitted a Dension ICE system in their X5... my X5 is 2005 and UK spec. I have 16:9 display with Nav, CD changer and upgraded sound system - not DSP. Am trying to locate the radio tuner module to make a connection..........where have they hidden it...?????????

I beleive it's in a rack under the spare.

Solution....................

Thanx for the response El..........you are correct. l wasn't having much luck looking around the net for the radio tuner so plugged in a search for the tv tuner....figured (or hoped..!) that they would be situated close to each other.....they were.!!!!!!

To access, take out the spare tyre, then it's necessary to remove a couple of support brackets which are supporting the ABS module (black dome looking thing which the spare sits on top of).

The tv and radio tuners are now visible, situated just in front of the battery. All I gotta do now is install the Dension.........again, thanx for help.

Why did you need to access the radio module? The connections can simply be made right at the CD changer.

Here was my install - http://www.xoutpost.com/showthread.php?t=2602

That's probably what Zoltan told him...

When I did my install on a 2004 X5 with nav without DSP, I had a quadlock connection and you have to burry down to the radio to make the connection.

Handy hints:
1) Don't leave the ignition on whilst you do the install, with Air con on etc....I flattened my batter...Doh!

2) Make sure the Quadlock connection is secure...hold the sides whilst applying the mechanism...otherwise it appears nothing works.

3) Ensure the black sub socket (in the back of the quadlock) goes back into the radio...otherwise you wont get NAV/Tape audio.

4) Make sure you get the latest firmware version...I got EB2....to install it without the menu look at:
http://support.dension.com/support-c...mod_id=2&id=55

Apart from that my install went very well and it is very worth it.

For those in the U.S. do note that there may be some differences in the European IceLink systems, so use caution should you decide to try to load the firmware referenced above.
