HELP! DICE installed: no AUDIO!

I got kit today, did a test install in the trunk.

The TEXT scrolls OK in the Cluster (Playlists, Artists, ALbums)... BUT there's NO AUDIO!!!!!

Is there a PLAY button or something like that??!!!

I have had the same issue going on for over a month now - I installed my second DICE today and this one is doing the exact same thing as my first one - and is doing exactly what your's is doing. I followed the instructions to install exactly as I read and as I was told from the tech support at BSW - and I mean exactly as I was told and as I read. Anyone out there have any idea what we're missing in our install attempts? Thanks.

Same questions for both of you:

- What is the production date of your X5?
- Do you have Business CD or NAV?
- did you purchase a trunk or radio interface kit?
- Are you equipped with DSP?

Production date is October 2004
Has Business CD (no NAV)
Purchased the trunk kit
Radio has DSP, no CD-Changer in trunk, BTW Radio has no BC button (only a clock symbol in the bottom left button - don't know if this is relevant).

IPods are: 2nd Gen nano firmware 1.1.3; iPod tough 8Gb firmware 1.1.4

Thanks.

Mine is MY 2006 (don't have date info with me)
Business CD, no nav
yes, bought interface kit
yes, DSP

I described the car completely and BSW advised me what I'd need. All equipment bought from BSW.

There could be a couple of possible scenerios in your case.

1. The X5 was purchased used, with the original owner removing the CD Changer/DSP cable.
2. There is an open connection somewhere.

Try testing with another iPod just to be 100% sure. Sometimes nanos are a bit temperamental, requiring a reboot (pressing MENU + CENTER buttons) in order to get audio playback from the dock connector.

Do you have a DSP adapter with the setup BSW gave you? While its rare for a 2006 X5 to have Digital DSP, it's still a possibility.

Yes the X5 was purchased used but there never was a CD-changer in it. The 3 and 6 pin plugs were found bundled unused among the wiring.

BUT here's what I found... the DSP amplifier HAS A COAX terminal on it - although nothing is attached... does this mean I need a Digital DSP adapter even if I have the 6 pin plug?

I don't have a DSP adapter. I had told BSW that I had DSP, but was told by the salesperson that for my model year I did not need a DSP adapter. I've tried two iPods - with both, no audio but I did have text display on the radio face. Neither ipods were nanos, but both are completely up to date on their software.

Just spoke with Tech support at DICE. Tech said that since I have the 3 and 6 pin plugs I do not need the DSP adapter. He suggested I take the radio out to check of the 12?-pin connector (from CD-changer) is plugged in. He said on some X5s without CD-changers these were not plugged-in at the back of the radio. How I have to get a hex-key set.

Hey Shakiss... do you have a CD-changer in your trunk?
