Ipod Icelink Plus + CD Changer?

I know this has been debated before but I need a simple summary:

What is the best way to install Icelink plus in my car and still be able to keep my CD changer (BMW Aux input kit? maybe?), of course the objective is to be able to control both from the steering wheel and full oem integration if possible.

My car is a 2002 4.4i with DSP and the 16.9 screen (No NAV).

Thanks in advance.

Tom is your best resource. The issue as I understand it is that the Icelink Plus "emulates" a CD-C as far as the data bus is concerned, and the radio isn't equipped to "see" two CD-C's on the data bus, so hilarity ensues.

There is a set of wires with a rocket switch that a company sells that lests you switch between cd changer and the i-pod.

Switching isn't the issue, that's just making license plates. The question is what happens to the data bus sync when you throw the switch? Will the HU re-sync smoothly, or will it require you to cycle the ignition key, or what?

Unless you're referring to the Soundgate BMW in-line switcher that allows you to insert one or two RCA-level audio signals.

I tried one in the X5 - it had unacceptable noise, and Soundgate said, "yeah, that's a noisy car - sorry". Might work for you though... but doesn't allow delivery of any of the Icelink control or display features.

To tell you the truth, once you install the icelink - CDs will be far forgotten, trust me.
