Aux input

Hey guys tomorrow i am receiving my aux input from my dealer awhile back I saw all of the diagrams to remove stock radio and install but now I can't find them. I have a 2006 X5 with Navigation and non-dsp. Thanks for any help. Also anyone know a reasonable site to order a X5 specific mount for my sirius sportster something that screws in beneath the trim. Thanks ;)

Huh? Stock radio is in the trunk, why do you want to remove it for an aux install? Are you sure you don't have DSP? What model X5 do you have?

Here is a post with the BMW instructions. This will come with your dealer aux kit. Your car should have the aux pre-wiring; therefore you should not have to touch the radio. The aux wiring is up in the dash area.

Have you thought about going with BMW's OE Sirius module. It will plug right into your existing radio, and it is totally integrated. I have BMW's Sirius in my car, and I love it.

Thanks alot Brian. How hard would it be to remove the radio and run aux down into the ashtray area? Any diagrams available?

I put my Aux in the ash tray.

When you take out the radio, there's a thick wiring harness that runs down behind the dash into a tunnel. Follow this with your Aux cable. Remove the ash tray, and you should see this harness through the left side opening. Move/wiggle the aux cable until you see it pass the opening, and pull it out.

Very easy. I drilled into the ash tray, as it is a easy part to replace, not requiring any modification to a major vehicle part. I hide the cable in the ash tray compartment when not in use, and I close the door with the cable out to hide the slack when I use my iphone.
