Television gone? Help!!!

I am a new X5 owner, the last 2 days the TV was working fine (as fine as it can be that is), yesterday I disconnected the negative battery terminal to work on the steering, after connecting it back the TV option on the screen has vanished. I checked for fuses, but front and back fusebox have no reference to TV.

Anyone know how I can get it back again?

people in this forum seem not to wanna help us in some certain issues and this is a really bad thing.. By the way, I have almost the same problem. Bought my used X3 from Germany including TV and AUX option(dealer said so..) AUX input is in the car, i can see it.. and none of them are showing on my destinator's screen menu. If I'll find a solution on that, I'll let you know right away.

My problem was solved by disconnecting the negative terminal for a few minutes then reconect does some kind of reset to the system then the TV option came back. Also once I noticed it took 15 minutes or so before it came back. However since I finished playing around withthe electronic toys I have never had it disappear again.

Hope that helps.

When the power is removed and then restored there is a "discovery" period in which the vehicle goes out and polls for all of the i-bus devices that are installed. Likely what happened is when you restored power the first time is the video module didn't respond with the proper "I'm here" sequence and therefore it didn't show up on your screen as an available module. As you discovered, removing the power and then restoring it cleared the glitch and the TV module got the proper handshake with the i-bus.

Glad all worked out.

Really?

You have all of 2 post and have come to that conclusion?
Perhaps a little patients would be in order.

Aside from a few old goats like me who spend more time
here than they should this isn't anyone's full time job.

The OP solved his own problem and was followed up by
Ucrewx5 with additional important information that clarified
the issue. From where I sit this certain issue was handled
nicely.....

Thanks that makes alot of sense, now I see why sometimes it came up and sometimes it did not, a little ropey however :-)
