So it seems like no one is really interested haha....well anyways its up and running now, currently working on a bezel for the head unit. Just to throw out there, this is THE FIRST system i have ever done, the fiberglass sub box was the first piece i have ever fiber glassed. Built it all myself, sounds AMAZING compared to stock....i cant help but be DAMN proud of myself:cool:.
I will confess the only thing i did not do was prime and paint it, everything else was done in the garage.
Enjoy:thumbup:

Looks like it came out awesome!!! And the best part is it seems to be fully removeable and transferable, and didn't permanently modify or otherwise disfigure the back end of the X. And the sound must be clean, without being overdone.

I give it 2 thumbs up :2thumbs:

Good work X5SND..:)

Looks like you did a good job on your very first fiberglass box.. I do not think mine would come out look like that..:)

Sorry, System specs are:
Pioneer AVIC-F700BT Navigation
Alpine Mrp-M650 Mono Amp
Kicker ZX-350.4 4 Channel Amp
Stinger 1.2 Farad Capcitor
Stinger Double Shielded Interconnects
Stinger Ground Loop Eliminators
PAC SWI-PS Steering wheel Controller
Alpine Type-R 6.5" components up front
Alpine Type-S 6.5" components in rear
Alpine Type-R 10" Subwoofer

I was more interested in the balance of the system instead of block busting bass, and being a student the really high end gear was out of the budget! This setup definitely achieves the goal i set out for, HUGE difference, very clean, tight, and still has PLENTY of bass to rattle your teeth! Over all the install was pretty straight forward. Placed the GPS antenna in the rear wing; hid the PAC unit behind the head unit, and ipod/USB cable in the glovebox. For a piece of mind i ditched the phillips mounting screws that came with the unit and ordered up some anti-tamper torx for the sides and rear. The rear of the headunit is secured to the subframe of the dash. Mounting the components took a bit of thinking as i did not want to have to go through the hassle of making custom mounting rings, so i managed reuse the shrounds from the factory speakers for both the mids and the highs.

Anyways some more pics:

What did you do for a head unit and a bezel to fill up the hole?

Headunit is the avic-f700bt, and my plan is to mold the bezel into the dash trim pieces so it its one flowing piece, which will then be painted to match the titanium color on the door pulls. I recently went for surgery on my lung so it will probably be mid june before i can get back at er to finish it off.

Nice work and thanks for posting this. Seems most don't visit this section or just aren't as in too this stuff.

You should take a quick vid and post on youtube showing the system in action.

I have my 5 channel amp, 2 set boston pros, and JL stealth sub ready to be installed this week. Trying to hold off on the NAV head unit, dropping too much cash too fast on my newly acquired X5.

I will be waiting for the update on your head unit mounting. Hope you get better quickly.
