DICE kit issue

my DICE kit was working fine and i was happy with it until the past few days. it will work fine until i shut off the car, go about my business, then come back, start up the car, and then the dash will display that the DICE is attached but there is no audio. the first time i had to disconnect the cable from the unit (which is mounted inside the center console) and re-attach it. it began working fine, until i shut off the car, came back, started it up, then the same issue. do i have to reset the unit EVERYTIME i start the car? kinda ridiculous..

anyone have an idea on whats wrong?

having the same problem on my E46
when I see no CD option I shut the car and restart it again then the CD option is back
Tom from EAS told me that I have to disconnect the battery and do some procedures but I didn't.. Here is what he said:

1. Disconnect iPod from cable
2. Remove battery cables, negative first
3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.
6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed.

i have done some of those procedures, and it works fine after, but the issue comes back later. today it worked fine.. lets see if it works tomorrow.

also the cd option is still there.. it doesn't go away. the unit says attached even when its not attached, and no audio comes through when attached.

mine has been great other than the horrible sound it makes, like I am listening to an FM radio station that won't tune in... I think it is something with ground. Going to check all my connections again. Problem sometimes will go away after I take out ipod and reset connection.

Oh Great... I just ordered the Dice for my X5. I have a dice for my VW and it does the same thing that is described in this thread. I thought the issue would only be for the VW. Guess not. I was going to keep the whole unit in the rear compartment anyway. At least now if I have to unplug the unit it wont be out of the way.

BTW, when I had the problems with VW, I called the retailer I bought it from and he told me that all the Dice units seem to do this. He pretty much told me that the Dice is crap. Shame on me for buying another one. Oh well, hopefully I dont have any problems.

:yikes: If i followed this procedure every time the connection dropped I would never get out of the driveway.

:iagree:, and I am by no means a mechanic of any sort, but the whole idea of touching the battery cables together on my 50K BMW sounds a little crazy to me. I can only imagine what kind of electrical problems this may cause.
