Bezel Build *LOTS of PICS inside*
12 Attachment(s)
Finally got to start on filling the hole in my dash! Its obviously not complete, but the general idea is that I will be molding it into the dash trim pieces so its one complete piece, and paint it the same as the titanium on the door handle/pull. Here are some pics of it so far:

Angle looks too steep no ?
|
so far so good. definately a different angle than the OEM nav screen, but nonetheless good work!

That looks like a decent attempt to me, cudos.

Thanks guys! Just for some clarification, I DID NOT want to mount it like the oem nav, I just wasnt happy with the way the aftermarket screens looked/fit in such a gigantic hole. I dug this up: http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/...v-systems.html, a while back and sorta liked the idea. Ill post up a few more pics this weekend once its been glazed and filled in a bit better.

Looks good. I hate how the x5 Nav screen points up. Its hard to see in bright sunlight. The proper viewing angle should be down much more. When I built a custom bezel in my e46, I used the same angle concept: http://photos.performanceix.com/view...3502137f732ace |
Looks really good. What is the plan for the finish?
I prefer this angle as well and resembles this... YouTube - 2004 BMW X5 4.6 |

Some pics of it rough sanded, built up with kitty hair and glazed. Still have a bit of filling in and touching up to do before i can glass it into the side trim pieces. Enjoy!

pics are hard to comment....but as long as the angle is comfortable for you....
When looking at a pic, it's kinda like looking at your *gas gauge* from a angle from standing at the door versus looking at it dead on....it's hard to perceive. Build looks great though. When the missus get's back, I'll grab a pic of mine. Debated alot and tried to get it to blend into the dash... |
