Dension Ice Link Plus display to Radio vs. Cluster?

I have a 2006 X5, with Business Radio/CD, non DSP.

I recently picked up an Ice Link Plus and hooked it up. It works great! However, when going through the menus, I inadvertently picked the "No Text" option which eliminated the menu and ID3 info from the cluster (under the speedometer) - basically losing all control to any menu or functions. The guy I got it from sent me an MP3 that I played and it turned the text back on (under the cluster).

The Icelink is running ver 2B5.

Does anyone know if:

a) it's posisble to move the text to be on the radio itself ?

b) is there a MP3 to change the setting? (I have one for "No text", and one for "Text to Radio" but that puts it to the cluster.

My biggest problem is that since the display is under the cluster, a passenger can't work it very well. It would be easier on the radio itself, assuming it's possible.

Dension products are not supported in the US, you will need to contact dension directly at [email protected] for the configuration file you need.

Well I got an answer back from Dension. They sent me a file with different configuration files for the text display. I set mine for "text to MID" and now it displays on the radio itself. Track#, Artist, and Song. It's a bit slower to have the menu come up than it was on the cluster, but then it navigates fine from there to pick artist, album, playlist, etc. It now also allows me to use the steering wheel controls to navigate the menu.

I'm attaching the file here for anyone with an Icelink Plus. I think this is good for all V2 versions. I'm on the latest 2B5 from the Dension website.

IT'S A TINY 4K FILE, but save it as a ZIP instead of PDF. I couldn't upload a ZIP file so I had to rename it. RIGHT CLICK and do a save target as, then change it to ZIP instead of PDF.

MstrD, Thanks a lot for the config file.
Do you know what's the difference between MID and Radio option?

I originally picked radio, as I thought that was on the radio itself. In my non-dsp, non nav, that actually ended up overon the cluster underneath the speedometer. I used MID and it put it on the radio. I'd try them all and use the one that works best for you.

Thanks! On a separate note, I found out that my Icelink makes popping noise and resets itself when playing a song with a blank ID3 tag or a special character (unicode). That was the reason I disabled the display option. I can manually edit the tags but sometimes that's too much work for me.

I never had that problem, and I know I have blank ID tags. They show up as blank on the display screen when they play. This is using version 2B5.
