aftermarket headunit hooked up...no sound
ok so ive been searching everywhere for info and have finally decided to go ahead and take the plunge..i have a pioneer avic f90bt and was under the impression that i could use the stock amp because i dont have DSP...basically all i did to try and see if things would work was disconnect the wiring harness from the radio module in the trunk and then connected it to the avic via wiring harness adapter...the radio fired right up but didnt get any sound...so what im wondering is will my only solution to be to bypass the factory amp by tapping into the speaker wires on the harness that leads to the amp? I really wanted to avoid doing this...any help would be great!

Running speaker wires to the radio is one option, depending on if you have premium sound or not, you should only wire up 4 speakers to your radio.

i dont really want to bypass the factory amp..the headunit is connected using the same harness that connected the radio module so i assume all speakers should work..i think my problem is that the amp isnt getting a remote 12v signal to turn on so tomorrow i will check and if its not i am going to wire the remote from the radio directly to the amp wiring harness and see what happens..hopefully it will work

found out the problem...just as i suspected when the radio module was disconnected the amp wasnt getting a 12v remote turn on signal because there wasnt one in the harness..so basically i just tapped into the 12v turn on at the amp wiring harness and fed it with the 12v from the aftermarket radio remote wire and now everything works perfect!!

Just seeing if this is something someone would be interested in purchasing my bezel. It is a VERY solid piece, about 3/4"-1" thick, has universal bracketing attached for use w/ I'm guessing just about any double din deck. I'm 6'4" and have been accused of reclining my seat back enough to appear that I'm in the backseat :) If I sit upright like a "normal" person the angle is great, but that simply isn't how I sit in my X, especially on 8hr roadtrips back and forth from Seattle and Reno. I bought this from Sobi (his X5 in the pics, it's too cold in the garage to take new pics w/ my black interior ;)...unless that'll make or break the sale), I definately sit further back from the screen than he does, and he can confirm that it's a studry bezel and in great shape...for someone under 6' or sits more upright. I'm looking to sell this bezel and force myself to pay the difference to get a mybimmer.net bezel instead. I'd like to get at least like $150, maybe even shipped for it. Any takers?
