AuX Input late 2001 model

HI. Can you put a AUX stereo Imput on a 2001 model with sat nav

Cheers

No.

You cannot put an AUX input from BMW in this car UNLESS you purchase a radio tuner from 2003-on, or a current radio tuner.

There are other solutions that can work without spending $500 for a new tuner. Do you have DSP?

No i Dont have DSP. Can you retrofit the DSP System ? :)
why can you not add the aux to the tuner in the 2001 models?

Because it doesn't support it. As Drex indicated only the 2003 and newer radio modules have the capability to support AUX. These can be retrofitted into an older X5. I know, because I retrofitted one into my 2001 X5 (9/00 build).

Your other option is to try installing an aftermarket AUX solution from companies such as BlitzSafe or Soundgate.

If your 2001 is equiped with a cassette player a very valid, simple and cheap solution is to use a cassette adaptor. You have to look for the right cassette adaptor though since some have noisy wheels. I have been using a cassette adaptor to connect my mp3 player for several months now, listening to music everyday, and the sound is great. In my opinion this solution provides a better sound than an FM transmitter based solution, comparable to sound coming from my CD changer, assuming of course that the quality of the mp3 files is good. I did try FM transmitters and was not happy with the result.
I passed the cassette adaptor's wire behind the radio unit, inside the central column and central harmrest so as there is no visible wire. My MP3 player is in the harmrest box. Here is the related thread.

What kind of solutions are we talking about if I have DSP in my car?
