icelink plus and text display ?

can you get text display on both the obc and the nav display at the same time?

i seem to only get the nav display. the obc says cd 01-2 or whatever track i seem to be on instead of the mp3 song/author text.

also, is it normal to have ~1-2 sec pause between menu prompts as you navigate? if so, i suspect this is i-bus slow-as-a-sloth-sleepwalking-in-molasses bus speed?

in any case, i'm pretty happy with the ice-link plus! great product you got there Tom G! and i don't even drive the x5 or have an ipod! (both belongs to the wifey...)

In my opinion, you can't have obc and nav displaying song/author. Gotta choose one.

My problem is that I can't figure out the right procedure to keep the song/author to stay on (in obc option). It seems to work when I change from cd to radio and back again or when I turn the car off and then on.

It sounds to me like you are running on an older version of the firmware. Mine used to do that too, but that was fixed in a later firmware release.

As to Adam's original question, I am not aware of a means with the current firmware to allow you to have the ID3 tags display on both the nav screen as well as the OBD at the same time. And I too think it's the slow data speeds of the i-bus that cause the delays you are seeing.

Thanks for the info UCrewX5, will try to run that through the guys importing the hardware. It was tough enough getting the icelink, so I hope they'll know what to do.

Tom G. can email you the latest firmware and update instructions if you provide to him the firmware version you are currently on and the configuration of your X5 (year, nav/non-nav, DSP/non-DSP, etc.)

You can get Tom's contact info here - http://www.xoutpost.com/members/tom-g.html
