Analog or Digital DSP? 2006 X5
I'm planning on installing an ipod connection in my 2006 X5 3.0i. I think I have Digital DSP, but want to be doubly sure before I purchase a DSP Adapter. I'm hoping this photo will help.
I do not have a CD changer. I've dug around in back trying to locate the 3-pin and 6-pin connecters. I've only found a 3-pin connector with the brown wire on the outside. Any help is appreciated. Thanks http://www.flickr.com/photos/1767461...80788/sizes/l/ |

Hit Ctrl F and type in DSP should show you a clear image of how you can make sure you have DSP 100% |
Thanks...
I should have mentioned that I have a Navigation system... I definitely have DSP. I'm just trying to decipher if it's an Analog or Digital connection. |
The connection between the CD changer and DSP amp changed from digital to analog when BMW changed to the New Generation radios. The X5 got the New Gen radio in 2003; therefore your 2006 has the analog connection between the CDC and DSP amp.
The 100% comfirmation is that the coax SPDIF connection on your DSP amp is unused. If you had the digital audio connection, you would have a cable connected that runs to your Cd changer. |
Thanks for the help.
I've heard that the 2006's don't have Digital DSP, like you've mentioned. I've also heard that some do... I couldn't find the 6 pin connector, only the 3. I'm wondering if there's anything in the photo I posted that would confirm this is an Analog DSP connection... and help me hook up my Intravee and KCA-420i... Thanks again for the response! |
Brian,
I think I just figured out (finally) what you were saying. I looked at my photo again and noticed the "white dot" on the Amp. I'm guessing this is the Digital Coax connection point. And because there's no cable going into it, it must be Analog. Now I just have to find the 6-pin connector... Thanks |
