Sirius

Does anyone know if you can hook up an aftermarket Sirius tuner (not a RF modulated tuner) and operate it through the OEM radio and also have an IceLink hooked up? I'm struggling with BMW's $350 price tag for their Sirius receiver.

Thanks

If you have a 2003 or newer then you can use the AUX inpt to send the Sirius through the BMW audio system. The channel controls and display for the Sirius tuner will be through the aftermarket system, though.

I don't have Sirius, but I think this might be a good starting point for you.

I installed an XM Direct unit (this one), and have been happy with it. You should be able to find a Sirius unit that does essentially the same thing.

Does that Sirius kit really work?

As I said, I really don't know much about Sirius. It does look somewhat similar to the XM Direct device, but?? :dunno:

To my knowledge, the Blitzsafe converter only works with XM. I have e-mailed them to verify this and see if they know of anyone with a similar product for Sirius. The XM Commander is a nice set up, but unfortunately, i've got to have Sirius. I'll let you know what i hear from Blitzsafe.

Do yourself a favor and go OEM, you're already spoiled with the ID3 text and steering wheel control on the ice>Link. :D

It's not much more $$ and a much cleaner system.
