alternatives to TVonNAV

I've decided to run my dvd player through the front screen as well as many of you have done. I want to have it in stereo, and from what I've read TVonNAV module is the way to go. But from all the problems other have been having getting items from them I'm a bit worried. Is TVonNAV still the best route to go or should I consider others?

thanks

So I'm reading that the TVonNAV Video Input Solution may be the best way to go. Drex you mentioned in another thread that it's much cheaper to do this route...but this module on their site is $449 where as the TV Module is $199. I must me missing something here...

Its the TV in Motion module that is $199,which is different from the TV video module.

I agree with you.Although I got my TV in Motion Motion module and their AV Harness with RCA inputs/ouputs,their after sales service is extremely poor and they are also very difficult to get hold of!It would be nice to have an alternative.

I spoke to Tom from EAS, specifically because I didnt get any reply from the TvonNav guys. Their VSM (Video Source Module) allows for TV in motion capability, and you'll be able to add another two additional AV inputs

Dr_Smith 12-13-2005 11:23 AM

thx. do you have their website?

Sure, I copied this from one of his posts here

Hmm I don't know if I trust that either. Has anyone ordered from them before? I'd like to get ahold of Parag and find out what is going on....

You could trust Tom. He's a regular here. Very helpful with all sorts of icelink questions.

the Tv in Motion module requires the OEM Nav (the $199), the other does not. Tom's solution looks really good........

It does, other than having to use an external switch to enable/disable the output to the nav screen. It looked to me like the Advanced Automations one allows you to select the video within the NAV menus, is this correct?

it uses a button on the NAV screen to switch audio sources. the video sources are cut in via relay to switch to rear view, or a switch as well... in essence, no difference.

thanks. that helps.

Dr Smith.

You may want to also look at the Dietz interface. It offers a similar solution to the others mentioned here, however does allow the external video to be selected (or not selected as the case may be, regardless of if the source video is available .ie DVD playing) with a button on the NAV Screen. The clock button to be exact. No new menu item appears. Its just done by pushing the clock button momentarily.

You can find out more info here

Dietz multimedia interface

They have a distributor in the USA:

Perzan Auto Radio INC.

Upper Darby, PA 19082
phone +1 (610734) 1234
fax +1 (610734) 1854

I personally dont have one of these, but am currently looking into it .... just thought I would mention it !

Cheers, Adrian

Anything can be used for a switch though - its simply the fact of grounding a trigger wire. How you would want an external switch to be utilized would be up to you.

We've had a couple of recommendations from using the ebrake, to using the cigarette lighter. I think we're both on the same path to which we want to keep the installation as factory-like as possible.

BTW - out website will be fully functional by Jan 1st - it's a work in progress.
