DSP Amp Replacement

Hi All
Been trolling for a while. Great info on this forum.

I have a 2005 BMW X5 with NO nav but does have Bluetooth and DSP. My AMP died so I bought a recycled replacement DSP AMP from another X5. I installed the amp and I am getting sound now but two things:
1) the DSP options are not showing up in the display
2) the sound isn't as high quality as before

All I did was swap the units. I did not disconnect the battery or anything else. Is there some pairing/matching I need to do?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think it has to be coded if not from the same t.ype vehicle. Brian BMW would know. He is sometimes here or on the BT forum

Thanks for responding. The replacement amp came from another X5.

It sounds like you picked up a HiFi amp not a professional DSP amp, there should be a part number sticker on the amp, what does it show the part number to be?

HERE is a link to the DSP amp for the X53 X5.

Thanks for responding. I was travelling and just had a chance to get the AMP serial number. Here is a pic:

The company I bought from has a good reputation and indicated that this was a DSP model. Can you confirm/deny that claim?

thanks!

The odds are very high that the amp did not come from an X5. You need to get it coded.

What does coding entail? I assume a trip to my BMWDealer?

Yup, the BMW diagnostics system needs to connect to the car and configure the amp. Most dealers typically charge one hour of labor. If you can find an independent BMW specialists with either a BMW system or Autologic, then they could do it. That might save a little money.

That is a DSP P/N. Find an Indy with Autologic.

Thanks guys. I'll drop it off at my dealer and see what happens!
