Considering the Dice Mediabridge...
I have an 04 non-DSP, non Nav. I have installed silk tweeters and a single 10. I like my music and would like to use my iPhone 4 in my car. Is the MediaBridge reliable enough? I will be using as a primary music source and to make/receive occasional calls.

I picked one up for Christmas this past year only for the fact that I can play music from my iPhone without having to hook something up every time. I do not use it for phone calls as I don't like to talk while driving(haven't even hooked up mike). It can be a little buggy at times and the sound is not that great, but it does exactly what I bought it for.

I would rate it somewhere between Heck Yes, it works great and Works OK, but not great. I installed one in my e46 just after Christmas and have been pretty happy with it. Installation was very easy thanks to some DIY videos on Youtube. I use it for my ipod as well as bluetooth for my phone. For some reason, it stopped working once, which required me to remove my glovebox to unplug the unit. I am not sure if this was due to an issue with the unit itself or my cell phone. Other than that, it has been trouble free.
I ran the microphone to the stock location near the sunroof switch and clarity is reasonable. However, it is not very good when it is raining hard and the windshield is getting pounded. I think overall clarity could be better if I ran it to the driver's side A-pillar, but I wanted it to be completely hidden and nobody has really complained about not being able to hear me, so I see no need to move it at this point. I am also not on the phone a lot anyway, so I perfer a fully concealed setup over total call clarity. Sound quality from the ipod is about what I expected. I would rate it as good quality, not excellent, but a solid good, imo. Music is fairly easy to control as well. I have my ipod grouped by artist, then I just scroll through the songs. You can also set up playlists and such, etc. My main concerns were a hands-free bluetooth solution for my cell phone and ipod control. Overall, I have been satisfied with the MediaBridge in these areas. I also like the fact I can add Satellite radio with a $70+/- modelue at any time. At this point (although a relatively short period of time) I would recommend the MediaBridge based on value and performance. |
I would say that it's having to interface into a pretty damn old system, it was designed for the E38 back in the early 90s. It does pretty well for that, but it's no Core i5.
