Cheap CD Player to replace BMW CD Stacker!

Hi all

A while ago when i was looking to purchase the X5 E53, i came across one that has a simple, cheap CD player in the trunk where the standard CD stacker used to be ....

How did they do that? I was new to the scene at the time so i didn't pay much attention to it.

I'm sick of not being able to play MP3, AUX on what suppose to be hi-tech SAV unless i have to fork out 2,3 hundred dollars to these add on stuffs.
I could have get rid of the screen and replaced it with a double din, touch screen and everything else but i really want to retain the standard BMW look and features.

Anyone know?

Hi Tymatk, What your looking for was a BMW bm53 modified radio. Its a mp3 player, navigation radio, works with dsp or not dsp and has a cd player built in. They supposeldy took the guts out of the MK3 navigation drive and added the bm53 guts and and the cd player. there is a couple threads on here about it. I only knew of 1 place selling it (bimmernav.com They dont have any more units. I been following up with amy over there. She said she has a broken cd drive one. Also a member on here XKalibur(sp)
has reviewed it and said it was junk it kept messing up ... I too still want one. For now i went with grom audio another solution like dice. I have ipod control, usb drive control and aux input all i lost was my cd changer in the back. i havee the cd player up front so no big deal.

Nah, it wasn't a modified Radio. It was a proper after market single CD player.
